You spoke, we listened! This season we are opening up many more shares than previous co-ops! We've grown to be able to offer these shares to you at a time when the beef industry is...well, let's just say LESS THAN TRANSPARENT. Because we try to be as transparent as possible, we are letting everyone know some of the ground-only shares are from animals we acquired elsewhere to be a part of the breeding program years ago, therefore we cannot guarantee they have never had antibiotics, hormones, or vaccines at some point in their lives. We can confirm they have not had them since they came to us. For those labeled animals, it has been between 2-6 years since they were under the care of another ranch and could have been (not definitely, but we want to be as transparent as possible) at a ranch with different practices than the strict ones we choose to follow. We want to sell what we would readily consume ourselves!).

We pride ourselves in operating a "clean" beef operation and have never previously offered cattle we weren't sure had no antibiotics, hormones, or vaccinations - we only had them for breeding purposes. We want to be as upfront as possible, so if the share listings say "guaranteed 100% clean" it means the animal was born here on the ranch or we are sure they have never had antibiotics, hormones, or vaccines of any kind. Essentially we had control of their care and maintained clean health practices from the very beginning. Shares labeled "guaranteed clean for 2+ years" means these animals have been with us for at least 2 years. Some have been here for 6 years, some 4, but we are saying 2+ because that is the most recently we have acquired any cattle to use in our breeding program. All that being said, as picky beef consumers ourselves (and the entire reason for starting this ranch), I would feel 100% comfortable consuming beef from the shares that we cannot guarantee 100% because they have had (at least 2) years on pasture and are healthy and thriving with our clean care practices!

Our cattle are truly grass fed. As a result, they are naturally more lean and the beef has a stronger flavor (not as strong as deer, but not as mild as grocery store beef. We compare it most closely to a mild bison (if you have ever tried it).


Note: we don't know specifically how much meat you will receive because of how the animal is processed (there's a very detailed explanation of that process on the FAQ page). We try our best to price the animals based on size so that our estimated pricing stays within market prices of quality grassfed beef.
